My Story
I am Amanda V., a vocalist who has been performing for over 40 years. Originally from Palm Springs, CA, I have been in Colorado since 1991. My style of music is vast, including rhythm and blues, pop, jazz and rock. I have been performing with and managing my own bands since 2018 – Amanda V’s Material Girl – the Premier Tribute to Madonna and Princess and the Evolution – the Sounds of Minneapolis. Additionally, my current projects include She Bop Denver – Denver’s Female Power Duo, Bad Co – Colorado’s Tribute to Bad Company and the music of Paul Rogers, and The Corporation – Denver’s RocknFunknCountrynRoll Dance Band. I also have an honorary spot in Boogie Machine – the Super 70’s Disco Dynamo and Ronnie Raygun and the Big Eighties – Denver’s Hottest 80’s tribute band with which I have been a fill-in vocalist and collaborator with since 1999. Even with all of this, I manage to find time to write and record my own original material as Amanda V Sings.
Music has taken me all over the United States to share my talent in various venues, including festivals, major venues, private parties and wedding receptions. I have been by clients as “the ultimate entertainer!” I attribute this to my love for performing, my loyal audience and the respect from my fellow musicians.
Beginning this musical journey at the age of 6, I enrolled in voice lessons and started performing in my school choir. This opened the door for me to receive a variety of opportunities to show my love for singing, such as local music groups, variety shows, musicals and a steady gig as a karaoke track singer in a recording studio. I learned very fast how to switch from one style of music to another, and the versatility has served me well. When I moved to Colorado, I began performing with a local rock band called Southbound Express. From there I expanded my musical interests to singing rhythm and blues, funk and disco, with groups such as Ron Ivory and the Miles Apart Band, Boogie Machine, the Pharaohs of Funk and the long running Hip Pocket. Although high energy is what I normally bring to a show, I have also performed in jazz and pop duos, allowing me to show my softer side and connect with my audience on a more intimate level. Keeping up my studio chops, I also work with local artists laying vocal tracks for their music. To top it all off, I am currently serving in the full time United States Air Force Reserves and have been honored to proudly perform our National Anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner” for various local military events.
Graduating from the University of Colorado Music and Entertainment Industry Studies program with a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance, my passion turned into a solid possibility of someday inspiring other vocalists and performers in an instructional capacity. Although I have been performing for years, there is never a point where I have stopped learning as an artist, especially because I love my craft.
